What next? So you have earned your Bachelor's or Master's degree. You will soon have defended your thesis. Your (post-)doctoral employment contract will not be extended. It’s time to discover your pathway and launch your career outside academia.

There are many alternatives to explore. But which one is for you? And once you know what you would really like to do, how exactly will you manage to transition into that new field of work?

Exit Science is an empowering suite of group coaching sessions for scientists seeking new fields of employment. In six consecutive sessions over the course of three weeks, you will apply proven tools for self-reflection and potential development to support you in discovering where you want to go. Topics will include envisioning your needs and overarching goals, discovering your competences, activating your resources, managing your job search project, expanding your adaptability to new work culture environments and identifying your specific development potential. We recommend attending all of the sessions, as each one will be devoted to a different aspect of your transition.

We will coach you together: Wera Schmidt, PhD student (University of Potsdam), personal, business and team systems coach. Anne Hodgson, bilingual communications skills trainer, career consultant and systems coach.

Bilingual flexibility: The sessions will be conducted in English as the lingua franca of both international academia and business. However, you may wish to use both German and English to express yourself in self-reflection. As a bilingual tandem, Wera and Anne will split participants into groups along language lines should that become necessary and useful.
