Dirk Sachse is principal investigator in the International Research Training Group "StRATEGy", senior scientist in the Geoecology and Geomorphology section at GFZ Potsdam, and head of its Organic Surface Geochemistry Laboratories. His research is aimed at understanding the variability of the hydrological cycle on different timescales (101 to 106 years), as the basis of life, human societies, ecosystems as well as a pacemaker of the biogeochemical cycles, such as the carbon cycle.
